Okehampton Fun Tournament

On Sunday 2nd November 12 players travelled to Okehampton to represent West
Somerset in what has become a six monthly challenge. Each club fielded 4
teams of 3. West Somerset regained the trophy with a fine 30 points to 18
victory. As expected Okehampton fielded an extremely strong first team and
took the opening match 8-4. Chris Norman, Vince Court and Rod Richards

performed well to take one singles each. West Somerset's second team ran
out 8-4 winners to square the overall points total. There was a maximum
for Martyn Summerell and two singles wins for David Woodland. Dave Veale
recorded a maximum in the third game and was well supported by Sam
Hutchings and Mervyn Hillier who both scored two singles success giving
West Somerset a 9-3 victory.

A similar scoreline was achieved by Michael Vickery, Barbara Parker and Les
Wareing in match 4. West Somerset proved to be too strong in depth for
Okehampton as Michael Vickery stormed to a fine maximum. Barbara Parker
took two singles and Les Wareing one.
